1.2714 Steel Characteristics
1.2714 mold steel is an oil quenched and gas quenched plastic mold steel with excellent hardenability, toughness, and heat resistance. This material is also suitable for use as cold working tool steel because it can maintain high hardness and strength. In addition, 1.2714 mold steel also has good polishing performance and is suitable for surface treatment.
In terms of chemical composition, 1.2714 mold steel contains 0.5% carbon, 1% chromium, 2% nickel, and a small amount of elements such as molybdenum and vanadium. The presence of these elements endows 1.2714 mold steel with high hardenability, wear resistance, thermal fatigue resistance, and low deformation rate.
During the heat treatment process, 1.2714 mold steel can change its physical properties through forging, softening, annealing, quenching, and tempering. Specifically, its softening annealing temperature is 850-950 ℃, quenching temperature is 800-850 ℃, and tempering temperature is 500-600 ℃. After such a heat treatment process, 1.2714 mold steel can achieve a hardness of HRC 36-52 at room temperature.
Overall, due to its excellent performance, 1.2714 mold steel is widely used in the manufacturing of plastic molds, cold working tools, die-casting molds, etc.
